RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Education Yousef Al-Benyan and his accompanying delegation visited several educational institutions and universities in Canada and met with officials and investors, on a recent visit to the North American country.

During the trip, he held talks related to investment opportunities in education, attracting investment to the Kingdom, strengthening existing scientific and research cooperation, and developing partnerships between the ministry and Canadian universities and colleges.

Al-Benyan met with the president of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons and its leaders in the capital, Ottawa, where opportunities for cooperation were discussed in the fields of medical training and plans to accredit medical programs in Saudi universities.

The delegation also visited the Heritage Academy, which specializes in educating students with learning difficulties, including autism, dyslexia, and hyperactivity, for all general education levels.

At the University of Ottawa, Al-Benyan discussed plans with college leaders and deans for future cooperation with the ministry and Saudi universities on research, innovation, and student and academic exchange, as well as investment opportunities available in the Kingdom’s education sector.

And the Saudi party visited the stem cell research center within the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, affiliated with the University of Ottawa, and learned about the latest technologies and therapeutic applications of research in the field of regenerative medicine.

In the city of Toronto, in Ontario province, members of the visiting group met with the minister of labor, immigration, training, and skills development, and the president of the University of Toronto, to discuss opportunities for cooperation and the exchange of faculty members and students.

During their visit to the Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study, which is affiliated with the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, delegates learned about the practical applications of modern educational methods and theories. They also met with technical and training companies working in the field of education at the university headquarters.
