When it comes to team bonding, there certainly are worse places to do it than in St. Barts.
Several members of the Blue Jays – and a couple of free agents — escaped the cold, winter weather of Toronto for a vacation in the Caribbean island nation recently.
Taylor Gausman, the wife of Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman, shared several photos and video clips over the weekend of the getaway, with plenty of familiar, smiling faces.

Among the members of the 2025 American League champion Blue Jays team, pitchers Gausman, Shane Bieber, Jeff Hoffman, Max Scherzer and Chris Bassitt, as well as infielder Ernie Clement were all spotted having a blast on the beach, enjoying some good eats and dancing the night away at a club.

The wives and girlfriends of the players didn’t miss out on the fun, either, with plenty of wine and other drinks spotted in the posts.
Kara Bieber also shared several pictures from the getaway, calling it the “trip of a lifetime” https://www.instagram.com/p/DTWVXPaEulj/?hl=en&img_index=1.

The group of players also had shared Instagram posts celebrating free agent Bo Bichette’s wedding last week, appearing in several photos at the event in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Plans for 2026 season
While Gausman, Bieber and Hoffman figure to be key pieces for the Blue Jays pitching staff in 2026, Scherzer and Bassitt are free agents and remain unsigned as spring training nears next month.

Bieber, a trade deadline addition by Jays GM Ross Atkins, also could have become a free agent, but instead picked up his one-year player option at $16 million for the 2026 season.
The getaway is thought to have been to celebrate the upcoming 40th birthday of Max Scherzer’s wife, Erica.
Clement also had some reasons to celebrate — about 4.6 million reasons, that is. The post-season record-setter and the Blue Jays avoided arbitration on Friday, agreeing to a one-year, $4.6-million deal for the 2026 season.

St. Barts a popular spot
St. Barts, which is short for Saint Barthélemy, has been in the spotlight for sports celebrity getaways recently.
NFL legend Tom Brady was spotted getting close with popular influencer Alix Earle during a New Years party on a yacht in the Caribbean paradise.
The French-speaking island getaway is roughly 400 km east of Puerto Rico and is known for its white-sand beaches and designer shops.
