The driver of a pickup truck was fighting for his life in a hospital Sunday after being involved in a collision with a snowplow in St-Rémi, in Quebec’s Montérégie region.
Emergency services were called to the site of the collision on de l’Église St. just before 3 a.m. Sunday, said Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Élizabeth Marquis.
According to initial information, the driver of the truck, a man in his 30s, struck the snowplow, which had just cleared snow from a private entrance.

The truck driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was taken to a hospital in the region for treatment of life-threatening injuries, Marquis said. The snowplow driver was not injured.
SQ spokesperson Marythé Bolduc said de l’Église St. was closed until 6:30 a.m. Sunday for an SQ investigator specializing in collisions to try to shed light on the causes and circumstances of the event.
Snow was falling Saturday night, and was heavy at times.
