A Chetwynd man appeared in court on Thursday in connection with a homicide in the northeast B.C. community last year.
Kenneth Albert Wood is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Carlene Engellend in Chetwynd last March.
He appeared by video in provincial court from the Kamloops Regional Correctional Centre where he remains in custody.
Wood was expected to choose whether he wants to be tried by a jury or judge only.

But the case was adjourned to Jan. 20 to allow the Crown to provide a new round of evidence disclosure for the defence to review.
Prosecutors told the court that "more significant charges" are now being considered. They say a decision is expected by Wood's next appearance.
Engellend was found dead on March 9 after emergency crews responded to a medical distress call.
At the time, RCMP described the death as suspicious and said major crimes was investigating.
Court records show Wood was charged with second degree murder in July of 2025.
However, police never publicly released any information about the charge.
