The preliminary hearing for the man charged with killing a woman on a highway near Weyburn, Sask., is scheduled for the fall.

Chris Fahlman, 42, is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of Tanya Myers, 44, and with intentionally firing a gun while being reckless to the life and safety of another person.

Myers was killed on Sept. 12, 2025, while she was a passenger in a vehicle on Highway 39, just northwest of Weyburn. She and her friend were returning from a day trip to Regina when a bullet entered the vehicle and struck Myers.

Preliminary hearings are held to determine whether there is enough evidence to proceed to trial.

Seven days are scheduled for Fahlman's hearing in Weyburn provincial court, beginning Oct. 21, 2026.

Fahlman has been in custody since his arrest in Regina on Nov. 1, 2025. He applied for bail but was denied.
