The news comes more than two months after the shooting aboard a transit bus in the area of Gateway and Springfield roads on Oct. 27.
Police said the driver was shot in the hand with what was believed to be a pellet gun during a dispute with a teen who fled. The driver received care for minor defensive injuries in hospital.
At the time, the union that represents transit workers suggested the driver was considering quitting after the incident.
The police K-9 and tactical support teams searched the area after the incident but came up empty.
Police called on the public in the area at the time to share any dashcam or surveillance footage that could help the investigation.
The major crimes unit of the Winnipeg Police Service identified the suspect and arrested him at an East Kildonan residence, according to the news release.
