Yesterday we shared our list of the top five CBC Sudbury stories of 2025.

Video is an increasingly important part of what we do to share important stories for our readers in northeastern Ontario and across Canada.

CBC Sudbury’s most viewed videos of the past year included everything from a lighter story about a Sudbury hardware store to a dashcam video that captured a man’s near-death experience.

Below are CBC Sudbury’s most viewed videos of 2025.

5. A family in Sudbury is selling the hardware store it’s owned for 5 decades

This video was about the Michel family, who owned A&J Home Hardware in Sudbury’s south end for decades. The family sold the store to a local construction company called Wilson Hope Limited.

4. Cleanup starts after this northern Ontario provincial park was devastated by a downburst

On June 21, a downburst decimated two campgrounds in Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park in northeastern Ontario. Crews with Ontario Parks, and staff with the Canadian Ecology Centre, were clearing fallen trees in the days that followed the storm.

3. Swimmer in Sudbury says she doesn’t feel safe in local lake after fatal incident

Jodie McConnell said she no longer feels safe swimming far from the shoreline of Lake Nepahwin in Sudbury because of the growing number of motorized boats on the small lake. On Aug. 1, a boat hit a swimmer in the lake. She later died of her injuries.

2. Dashcam video from a Tesla shows car coming to a full stop

Despite a ban on using dashcams during road tests in Ontario, Tristan Imgrund says the Tesla he was driving for the exam automatically recorded footage which shows him coming to a full stop. Imgrund says he had to appeal his exam results after he failed for not coming to a full stop.

1. Dashcam captures road rage on northern Ontario highway

James Turner captured this dashcam footage of a road rage incident along Highway 11 near Temiskaming Shores on Monday, Dec. 30, 2024 where he was the victim as another vehicle rammed his car deliberately.
