A food delivery driver escaped serious injury Monday after being dragged down Besserer Street in a carjacking.
A 26-year-old man was later apprehended and charged with robbery, dangerous operation and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
At 9:37 p.m. on Dec. 29, the victim was making a delivery in the 100 block of Besserer Street when a person got into his vehicle in an attempt to steal it, the Ottawa Police Service said in a news release Tuesday.

The delivery driver tried to stop the intruder and held on to the vehicle, but the person drove off with the victim still hanging on, police said. The delivery driver was dragged down Besserer Street for “a considerable distance,” but was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The vehicle was later found abandoned near Cornwall, and shortly after that a suspect was located and arrested near the U.S. border.
