Canadian air carrier Porter Airlines recently kicked off its winter schedule from Ottawa International Airport (YOW), launching new flights to popular sunny destinations in Mexico, the Caribbean and Costa Rica.

Travellers can now fly non-stop from YOW to Puerto Vallarta, Nassau and Cancun. Porter is also now offering non-stop service from YOW to Grand Cayman and Liberia, making it the only airline to provide exclusive access to those destinations. Now serving 24 non-stop routes, Porter offers more flights from YOW than any other airline.

Porter’s new services from YOW are now offered: to Nassau, once weekly; to Puerto Vallarta, six times weekly; to Cancun, six times weekly; to Liberia, daily; to Grand Cayman, twice weekly.

The new routes are being serviced by Porter’s Embraer E195-E2, a 132-seat aircraft that features a two-by-two seating configuration, meaning no middle seats.

Full schedule details and booking information can be found at: flyporter.com.

The launch of Porter’s new routes coincided with recent news that the Canadian Airline Dispatchers Association (CALDA), the union representing flight dispatchers for the air carrier, had announced it will be in a legal position to strike on Jan. 20, 2026, if a contract deal between the two parties cannot be reached. In making the announcement, CALDA noted members had voted unanimously in favour of job action.

Porter and the union have been in negotiations over what would be the flight dispatchers’ first collective agreement since they joined CALDA more than 14 months ago. Federal mediators are assisting with the negotiations, which are in the final stages. Incoming CALDA national president Mark Yezovich told Global News negotiations are set to end on Dec. 29.
