Quebec’s measles outbreak continues to grow.
Eight measles cases were confirmed in the province on Dec. 19, Quebec’s Health Ministry reports. Lanaudière, Laurentides, Laval and Montreal are all affected by the outbreak.
The outbreak has been underway since the beginning of this month, after the first case since April was reported in the Laurentians on Dec. 3.
A person infected with measles visited the emergency room at CHU Sainte-Justine on Dec. 14 between 6:09 p.m. and 7:35 p.m. The health authority also reports an infected person visited the UP Centre d’urgences pédiatriques in St-Eustache on that same date, between noon and 8 p.m.

“People who were in the following places during the dates and times specified are considered contacts of a confirmed case of measles. They must isolate themselves if they are not protected against measles,” Quebec’s Health Ministry wrote on its measles tracker website.
In 2025, Canada reported 5,329 measles cases across all provinces and the Northwest Territories as of Dec. 15, according to the federal government’s measles and rubella weekly monitoring report.
The health authority notes preventive treatment, such as vaccination against the measles virus, can limit the spread of the disease.
