The Redwood Meadows fire station was badly damaged by a fire on Wednesday evening.
The fire started at about 5:15 p.m. in the back hall of the fire station, which is about 40 kilometres west of Calgary and provides emergency services for the Redwood Meadows townsite, Bragg Creek and parts of Kananaskis Country.
In an update posted to Facebook at 5:35 p.m., Redwood Meadows Emergency Service (RMES) said the rear of the building was fully involved with fire, but that the front hall was not affected and the surrounding forest was not in danger.

Fire crews from Rocky View County were called in to help fight the blaze, which was brought under control by 6 p.m. and fully extinguished by about 7 p.m.
Tsuut’ina police, EMS and ATCO were also called in to assist.
Crews stayed on site through the night to watch for hotspots.
Several pieces of equipment and fire apparatus were destroyed in the fire, including 120 Engine and a bush buggy, RMES said on Facebook.
An investigation into what caused the fire is pending.
