By 5:35 p.m., the townsite’s emergency department said the back hall of the station was “fully involved” with fire as crews worked to contain the blaze.
Tsuut’ina Police, EMS and ATCO were also on site supporting the response.
The fire was under control by about 6 p.m., with crews still working to extinguish the fire as of 6:50 p.m., according to the townsite’s emergency department.
By 7:05 p.m., the department said the fire was extinguished, with fire crews remaining on site to deal with “hot spots.”
During the response, the Townsite of Redwood Meadows issued a notice advising residents to stop all water use, citing a low water plant reservoir. In a Facebook post, the townsite said Eastlink equipment located beside the burned building was damaged, and residents should expect internet and television service disruptions for several days.
