ALERT and Calgary police made two major drug busts this month, targetting suspected drug dealers in the area of the Drop-In Centre and, in a separate raid on an Erin Woods home, seizing more than $250,000 of drugs.

On Dec. 3 Calgary’s ALERT organized crime unit, with CPS assistance, seized 2,149 grams of cocaine, 2,934 grams of a suspected cocaine buffing agent, 330 grams of methamphetamine, 90 grams of MDMA, 12 tabs of LSD, 16 cartons of illegal cigarettes and $12,117 from a home .

The value of the drugs comes to over $250,000.

ALERT was made aware of possible drug trafficking out of the home and enacted what they called a ‘short term’ investigation.

“Drug trafficking threatens our community’s sense of safety. In this instance police were able to act on criminal intelligence in a timely manner to put a stop to this drug activity,” said Staff Sergeant Hayley Marquis, ALERT.

Leo-Ray Mariano, 32, and Jade Allen-Villacrusis, 26, are charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking in illegal cigarettes, -possession of proceeds of crime and fraud and will be in court December 17.

Police seize drugs and guns in investigation of downtown drug dealing

A gun seized from a Thorncliff home in the 6000 block of Centre Street N.W. after Calgary police identified possible drug dealing in the area of Dermot Baldwin Way S.E. near the Drop-In Centre.

Calgary police arrested two people in relation to drug dealing in the area of the Drop-In Centre, an area frequented by unhoused people in December.

”Targeting vulnerable individuals where they need to access services, especially during cold weather, will not be tolerated,” said District 1 Inspector Jason Bobrowich. “It’s critical that we remain vigilant in protecting those who can’t protect themselves and our communities.”

In November police started investigating possible drug dealing of the area of Dermot Baldwin Way S.E. and identified two suspects.

On December 9 members of the Gun Violence Enforcement Team searched a home in the 6000 block of Centre Street N.W. in the Thorncliff community.

Cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl and other drugs, as well as a handgun and ammunition were seized from the home.

Abdilkaafi Ibrahim, 24, of Calgary is charged with firearms and drug trafficking offences as well as possession of the proceeds of crime and breaching a release order. He will be in court Dec. 17.

Morningstar Moosomin, 21, of Calgary faces drug trafficking charges, breaching a release order and possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000. She appeared in court today, Dec. 16, 2025.
