Investigators have identified the victim of a homicide in Surrey, B.C., as 30-year-old Tory Dunn.

Four days after her death, homicide investigators are continuing to canvass the Port Kells neighbourhood, looking for witnesses and video surveillance to advance their investigation into a crime they called "senseless."

Investigators say Surrey RCMP were called to a home near the 9800-block of 182A Street around 10 p.m. PT on Sunday, and found Dunn with life-threatening injuries.

Dunn was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, where she died of her injuries despite the efforts of first responders. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called to take over the investigation.

IHIT says a suspect was found and taken into police custody after the area was searched by police and police dogs. The suspect remains in custody for an unrelated charge that has not been identified by IHIT.

In a statement, IHIT said Dunn's identity is being made public to further the investigation, and that the homicide investigation remains active and ongoing.

The homicide occurred in the Port Kells neighbourhood of Surrey, B.C., according to RCMP.

IHIT is working with Surrey RCMP, the B.C. Coroners Service, and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service on the investigation.

"Our thoughts are with Tory's family and the community," said Staff Sgt. David Lee of IHIT.

"We are committed to advancing this investigation to determine all the circumstances surrounding this senseless act."

Investigators are asking anyone with dashcam or surveillance video in the area around the 9800-block of 182A Street in Surrey to contact IHIT.
