Two people are each facing several charges after RCMP in Hay River, N.W.T., searched a local residence and found drugs and cash.
In a news release issued Wednesday, police said they executed a search warrant at the residence early Tuesday morning as part of a firearms investigation.
Police did not find any firearms during the search and said that part of the investigation is ongoing.
RCMP did find 24 grams of cocaine, $3,700 in cash, and other evidence of drug trafficking.
A 30-year-old Ontario man has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime, assault with a weapon and pointing a firearm. He's also been charged for failing to comply with a release condition that requires him to live in Ontario.
A 35-year-old Hay River man has also been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, as well as possession of the proceeds of crime and failing to comply with release conditions.
RCMP said two other men, both from Hay River, were released for a future court date but did not provide details of charges against them. A fifth person was arrested during the search but released without charges.
