OPP investigate collision north of Sharbot Lake, Ontario, May 5, 2024

OPP investigate a single-car collision north of Sharbot Lake on Thursday afternoon. One teenager has died and five others were taken to hospital. (OPP/X)

A teenager was killed and five more were injured in a single-vehicle rollover near Sharbot Lake, according to Ontario Provincial Police.

The collision happened Thursday just after noon on Burke Settlement Road, according to Const. Rob Martell of the Frontenac OPP.

The victims suffered injuries of varying degrees and were taken to hospitals in Kingston and Perth, plus CHEO, the eastern Ontario's children's hospital in Ottawa. One of the victims was airlifted from the scene.

OPP said Friday the occupants of the vehicle ranged in age from 15 to 17. The teen who died was 16 and was a passenger, police said. They haven't identified the victim.

Two other passengers were seriously injured, police said.

The investigation continues, but police said Friday the victims were in an SUV that left the road, rolled into a ditch and hit a tree.

The scene is north of Sharbot Lake. about 120 kilometres southwest of Ottawa
