A central Alberta teen is dead after a multi-vehicle crash on a rural highway Friday morning near the hamlet of Condor, Alta.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP received a report of a multi-vehicle collision involving a semi on Highway 11 and Range Road 45 in Clearwater County around at 6:35 a.m. on Friday.

A 17-year-old Clearwater County resident was killed as a result of the collision, according to a news release sent by Alberta RCMP night.

Three other vehicles, including the semi, all experienced damage in the crash, but no other injuries were sustained, RCMP say.

"Although early in the investigation, police believe that the deceased struck an oncoming semi truck. Two other vehicles then struck the semi as it lost control," reads the news release.

Police say fog and icy roads were factors in the crash.

Officers say they blocked the highway while investigating the scene of the incident and removing the semi, but the highway has since been re-opened.

Police did not identify the victim.
