Officers found a man suffering from serious injuries, and despite life saving efforts from first responders, police say the man died at the scene.
The homicide appears to be a targeted event, linked to ongoing B.C. gang conflict, according to a Saturday evening release from IHIT.
It said it is releasing the man’s name in hopes of advancing the investigation.
“This was a targeted and brazen shooting that took place in the middle of the day,” said Cpl. Esther Tupper of IHIT.
The agency wants to hear from anyone who was in the area of Blue Jay Street and Siskin Drive on Friday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to contact the IHIT Information Line.
“If you have information and have yet to speak to police regarding this investigation, please contact IHIT immediately.”
