A man found unresponsive in an east-end Windsor parking lot has died in hospital Thursday, police say.
“The Windsor Police Service regrets to confirm that the man who was found unresponsive has since passed away in hospital. Our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” the police wrote in an update Thursday.
Officers responded to a report of an unresponsive person at about 11:20 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2026. Police say the man was found in a parking lot behind a commercial building in the 5100 block of Tecumseh Road East.

At the scene, officers located a man who was unconscious and in medical distress. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
Police describe the victim as a Black man in his early 20s. He was wearing a black button-up shirt, jeans and white running shoes.
The Windsor Police Service Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation and is working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area or who may have seen the victim before the incident to come forward. Residents and business owners nearby are also urged to review security or dash camera footage that could help investigators.
