It was a weekend of near terror for two people travelling on different transit systems in the Greater Toronto Area.
Peel police have arrested a man following an alleged incident involving a transit rider and an imitation firearm in Brampton.
The alleged victim had exited a transit bus on Saturday, Dec. 27, at about 1 a.m. in the Chinguacousy and Drinkwater Rds. area and was followed by an unknown individual.

Investigators say the suspect approached the victim and claimed he was in possession of a firearm.

The victim contacted police, and officers located the accused a short distance away.
During an interaction with officers, the accused allegedly produced an imitation firearm and tossed it into a snowbank.
Police say the accused was also found in possession of a backpack containing bundles of rope, rolls of tape, gloves, and two knives.

Jagdeep Singh, 20, of Brampton, has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
He was held pending a bail hearing.

Attempted firestarter sought
Meanwhile, Toronto Police have released images of a suspect after someone tried to set a TTC rider’s jacket on fire at Kennedy subway station.

Cops say the assailant approached a man on the platform Sunday around 6:30 a.m.
“(The assailant) attempted to light the victim’s jacket on fire,” police said in a statement.
“There were no injuries to the victim,” they added. “The man fled the area.”

The assailant was described as being 25 to 30 years old, was wearing a black jacket, grey pants and black running shoes, and carrying a red bag.
