Ottawa is set to enjoy a white Christmas this year after the city was blanketed by snowfall yesterday.
A total of 16.4 centimetres of snow fell in Ottawa, marking the third-highest snowfall amount ever recorded in the capital on Dec. 23. The city saw a similar dose of winter last year as well, with 14 centimetres falling on the same date.
For Christmas Eve, Environment Canada is forecasting a 40 per cent chance of flurries overnight along with a risk of freezing rain. Temperatures will dip to a low of minus 9, feeling closer to minus 13 when factoring in the wind chill.

For Christmas Day, Ottawa will be waking up to a 40 per cent chance of flurries and a chance of freezing drizzle. The cloudy skies will begin to clear in the afternoon with a high of minus four.
In the evening, temperatures will plunge to a low of minus 22, according to the forecast.
