Police in Langley are on the lookout for a suspect who deliberately rammed an RCMP cruiser and nearly struck two officers during an attempted traffic stop on Wednesday morning.
The incident happened just after 10:30 a.m. in the 19900 block of Willowbrook Drive, near Willowbrook Mall, when police received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the area.
Two officers arrived to find the driver slumped over the wheel. When one officer attempted to wake the driver, the driver regained consciousness, put the vehicle in drive and intentionally hit the police cruiser, which had its emergency lights on.

Video circulating social media of the incident shows a dark Audi accelerating and pushing the RCMP cruiser back before fleeing the scene, as an officer scrambles to get out of the way.
Further investigation has determined that the licence plates on the car were stolen and had been switched.
“This was an extremely dangerous situation that put both officers and members of the public at significant risk,” said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP in a news release. “The driver’s decision to use a vehicle as a weapon and flee at a high rate of speed is unacceptable, and investigators are actively working to identify and locate those responsible.”
Anyone with information, dashcam footage or CCTV from the area is asked to contact Langley RCMP and quote file number 2025-41931.
