Two pre-teens linked to break-and-enter at Petawawa, OPP says

A 12-year-old has been charged by the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police after a break, enter and theft at a business in Petawawa early on Dec. 13.

A news release dated Dec. 23 said police responded to a security alarm at the business on Petawawa Boulevard at about 2 a.m. and found evidence of forced entry and theft. A quantity of vapes had been stolen.

Following the investigation, OPP charged the 12-year-old with break and enter and three counts of theft under $5,000.

The youth was released to a parent was expected to appear in Youth Court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke at a later date.

An 11-year-old youth was also identified as being involved in the break-and-enter, but was not charged as they were below the age of criminal responsibility, the OPP said.
