Broadview RCMP say they are awaiting autopsy results to better understand how a pre-teen boy died on Ochapowace First Nation, east of Regina, on Saturday evening.
Early investigation suggests the boy departed on foot to go to another home in the community around 5 p.m. He was found dead outside, less than a kilometre from the home he left, about three hours later.
After consulting with RCMP Major Crimes, investigators say the boy’s death is not considered suspicious.

Police are asking people to "refrain from any vigilante action towards animals" amid local speculation.
"We understand there is conversation happening locally and at this time the RCMP cannot confirm whether or not the boy’s death was the result of an animal mauling, if weather or another element was a factor," RCMP said in a news release on Sunday.
"Pending autopsy results, the appropriate authorities will determine next steps, if any, to mitigate any concerns."
The office of the chief and council on Ochapowace said the incident has deeply shaken the community.
"This tragedy is especially devastating at this time of year, as families are preparing to come together to celebrate Christmas and the new year," said a notice to band members on Sunday.
