Police vehicle involved in Etobicoke car crash

Toronto police say a police car was involved in a collision in Etobicoke Sunday morning.

Officers responded to a call around 9:38 a.m. near The Queensway and Kipling Avenue “with their emergency equipment activated,” the Toronto Police Service said in a post on social media.

They said a police car had collided with another vehicle. The crash also caused a traffic light pole to come down, resulting in traffic lights being out of service at the intersection.

The officer in the police vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported at the scene.

As of 1 p.m. Sunday, officers were no longer on scene, Toronto police said.

The northbound left turn lane remains blocked while crews finish repairs to the traffic light pole. All other lane closures have been reopened, police said.
