Pedestrian dies after vehicle collision in northeast Calgary

A pedestrian has died after a Thursday night collision with a vehicle in the city’s northeast.

Around 7 p.m., Calgary police, alongside the fire department and EMS, were on the scene of a serious injury collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at 32nd Street and 26th Avenue N.E.

Police said the pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries, and the driver remained at the scene.

The pedestrian later succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

Road closures were in effect for several hours on north and southbound 32nd Street N.E., and westbound 26th Avenue N.E. while officials tended to the scene.

This marks the 15th fatal pedestrian crash in Calgary in 2025, surpassing the number of such incidents in 2024. There has been 490 pedestrian collisions this year, as of Dec. 11.
