Liveblog: Jacob Fowler gets second start in goal for Habs vs. Rangers

Rookie goaltender Jacob Fowler will start a second consecutive game when the Canadiens (16-11-3) take on the New York Rangers (15-13-4) on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden.

Puck drop at 7 p.m. (Citytv, Sportsnet East, TVA Sports, TSN Radio 690, 98.5 FM).

Here’s what you need to know:

• Fowler got the win in a 36-save performance in his first NHL career start against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.

• Jake Evans returns to the lineup after missing Thursday’s game because of personal reasons. He was missed in the face-off dot, as the team lost 59 per cent of their draws against the Pens. Jared Davidson will sit.

• Arber Xhekaj returns to the lineup after sitting Thursday. He’ll take Jayden Struble’s spot. Many fans were surprised to see Xhekaj in the press box.

• It’s another weekend of back-to-back games for the Canadiens. They return home Sunday to face the Edmonton Oilers. They split last weekend’s games, beating the Leafs in a shootout on Saturday before falling to the Blues on Sunday.
