Robert Luu, one of the three former basketball coaches at a St-Laurent high school accused three years ago of sexually abusing their players, has been found guilty of sexual assault.
In a decision delivered Friday at the Montreal courthouse, Quebec Court Judge Patricia Campagnone found Luu, 35, guilty of sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching.
The judge said the case boiled down to the testimony of the complainant and Luu’s testimony, who denied having sexual relations with the complainant while she was in her early teens. When the complainant testified, she said Luu sexually abused her while she was between the ages of 12 and 15.

Campagnone had other cases to deal with on Friday, including a trial, and she told Luu she only had time to read the conclusions of what she described as a very long-written judgement.
Daniel Lacasse, 47, another of the coaches who was arrested by the Montreal police in 2022, was acquitted in his case earlier this year.
On Nov. 12, 2024, Charles-Xavier Boilard, 47, pleaded guilty to sexually exploiting one of his players. He is scheduled to be sentenced in January.
This report will be updated.
