Saskatoon police have charged a man with second-degree murder in the death of a 29-year-old man this week.
Blaine Moocheweines, 29, appeared in court on the murder charge on Tuesday. He was remanded into custody until his next court appearance on June 12.
Another 29-year-old man is charged with possession of a dangerous weapon, according to a Saskatoon Police Service news release. He also appeared in court on Tuesday.
The men are charged in relation to the stabbing death of Glen Lennie. Police said officers responded to an injured persons report in the 800 block of 22nd Street West at about 3:00 a.m. on Monday and found Lennie.
Police said paramedics took Lennie to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
This is the Saskatoon's 10th homicide of the year. The city had a total of 12 homicides in 2023, 13 in 2022 and seven in 2021. The most homicides recorded in a year in Saskatoon was 16 in 2019.
