Conditions are quite dry in British Columbia, especially the Interior and the northern sections, allowing for wildfires to arise this month, but a pattern change will help the situation with some much-needed precipitation.

A series of systems will bring substantial rain totals over several days, along with alpine snow. Substantial precipitation totals are likely for the Rockies and into northeast B.C., as well, where rain is desperately needed –– but much less rain will fall than what the region needs.

An unsettled pattern is setting up over British Columbia for the next several days, so make sure you keep your umbrella and rain gear handy.

An upper low will set up over the region, allowing for multiple systems to bring precipitation to the province.

While that may put a damper on outdoor activities, that is good news for the province as drought conditions are a big concern for this year's wildfire season, which is already off to a quick start.

As the pattern becomes unsettled for the next 10 days, rain will impact the majority of British Columbia.

Not only will precipitation fall in the form of rain, snow will fall in the mountains –– also great news as it builds up the snowpack to help with the spring and summer runoff –– providing more water if drought conditions persist.
