Police say a missing 62-year-old man has been found dead at a rest area near Prince George.

Edward Michael Milne was reported missing March 29, with family saying it was unusual for him to not be in contact since he was last seen March 27.

His remains were discovered Sunday, April 14, at the Bowron River rest area near Purden Lake, approximately 50 kilometres west of Prince George, RCMP said.

The North District Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation, which is being considered a homicide.

RCMP say Milne was found near the Bowron River rest area near Purden Lake, about 50 kilometres east of Prince George. They are asking anyone who traveled in the area between March 27 and 29 to contact them with information.

The death marks the sixth potential homicide for the north-central B.C. community this year, following two fatal shootings in the downtown area in January and February, the discovery of two bodies over a single weekend in March and a stabbing that resulted in the death of a 17-year-old.

RCMP are seeking information about the latest death, asking anyone who traveled past the rest stop between March 27 and 29 to contact police with information about vehicles they saw parked in the area, including dash cam footage.

The relevant detachment can be reached at 250-562-3300.
