A crash involving three vehicles in Mississauga has left one person dead and another person critically injured, Peel police say.

The crash happened on Thursday night in the area of Eglinton Avenue E. and Dixie Road, police said.

Emergency personnel were called to the scene at about 9:50 p.m.

Peel paramedics said a man was pronounced dead on the scene, while the injured person, also a male, was extricated from a vehicle and taken to hospital. Both men were believed to be in the same vehicle, according to police.

Police said other people may have been taken to hospital as a precaution.

Police said all three vehicles remained at the scene.

The intersection was closed on Thursday night to allow officers to investigate the crash and police said it was expected to be closed for some time.
